Healthcare Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Librarian Consultant

Job Description

Location: Durham, NC

Duration: 6+ Months

Description:

  • The Configuration Management team is responsible for maintaining information about IT hardware and software IT assets, in order to report on the value and ownership of financial assets throughout their lifecycle, and to determine key attributes and relationships between assets.
  • This information is leveraged by other ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • The CMDB Librarian is the custodian of all assets that are registered in the CMDB which includes control of the receipt, identification, storage, and retirement of all supported configuration items; performing and coordination of CMDB audits; identifying, recording, and addressing issues related to Asset and Configuration Management.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Configuration Management team to prepare the Configuration management plan
  • Assist in the identification of assets and configuration items (CIs)
  • Maintain all attributes associated with CIs
  • Accept receipt and record new or revised configurations into the CMDB
  •  Work with Technical Service Owners and Subject Matter Experts to build relationships between assets and ensure the accuracy of the CIs within the CMDB
  • Assist in conducting configuration audits and coordinate with Technical Service Owners to correct issues and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Collaborate with IT Owners and Change Management in the assessment of what CIs are impacted by a Change to a service

Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow components such as Service Catalog, Incident/Problem/Change Management, Asset Management, CMDB, Knowledge, Release Management, etc.
  • Experience onboarding new technologies for hardware and software, working closely with architecture and engineering teams to ensure all items are correctly identified, documented, and related within the CMDB
  • Experience performing audits of hardware, configuration items, as needed to maintain accuracy within the CMDB as well as monitoring and managing exceptions to CMDB policies
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to set deadlines and consistently meet them

Education: 

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent technical competency.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ITIL V3

Required Skills:
