  • The project manager provides an additional level of coordination and communication, overseeing implementation for an application, application area, or specialized team such as training or research.


  • Maintaining the scope, schedule, and quality of the project in their specific application area or team
  • Setting clear expectations for team members, including defining what they should do at each phase of the project
  • Working closely with the project director and other project managers to coordinate activities
  • Ensuring that the business community is engaged in the project
  • Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on project issues, key success factors of the project, and lessons learned
  • Sharing with team members the positive effects of innovation and system capabilities
  • Reinforcing the importance of the project together with the executives and the project director, and providing consistent communication to the project team
  • Organizing resources within the organization Motivating and showing appreciation for the team
  • Appropriately matching team member skills to team responsibilities
  • Managing the project from an organizational perspective while attending to detailed tasks
  • Assisting as a support contact for their area Identifying and troubleshooting issues
  • Guiding workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic software
  • Serving as a liaison between organizational needs and Epic implementation staff
  • Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
  • Working with Epic representatives, your organization’s business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization’s business needs in regard to the project deliverables and timeline
  • Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization’s workflows
  • Participating in training and working with end users
  • Reviewing the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership
  • Holding weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end?user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones

Minimum Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years working with clinical and/or financial applications within a physician practice environment.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience with on-line information systems; healthcare environment preferred.
  • Strong analytic and organizational skills, particularly in planning, communications, process redesign, and problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of users who have a varying level of computer expertise.
  • Solid understanding of revenue cycle management or experience with billing operations
