Position Summary:

  • The Sr. Epic Resolute Professional Billing (PB) Application Analyst is responsible for the analysis and evaluation of systems and applications.
  • This position utilizes knowledge of Professional Billing Best Practices, operational workflows and Epic functionality to guide application build and optimization.
  • This position provides recommendations for improvements and/or necessary changes including maintenance and trouble-shooting.
  • This includes maintaining confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored or accessed by the system/application and incorporating Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.
  • This position coordinates conversions, testing and documentation of system procedures and provides feedback related to training development and assists with training execution.
  • This position also provides go-live support and serves as primary point of contact for ongoing maintenance/support.


  • Lead moderate to large projects and serve in application team lead roles
  • Training & mentoring of Clinical Analyst II’s, I’s, and other junior staff
  • Follow project compliance procedures such as obtaining sign-offs before developing program code or migration to production.
  • Provide input on required processes and schedule dependencies on the overall project roll-out plan.
  • Lead large groups to make key decisions.
  • Work with the team leadership to create detailed application designs that conform to application architecture guidelines.
  • Create and maintain all necessary documentation and training materials for application implementation and changes.
  • Collaborates with colleagues.
  • Audit Application Analyst’s work.

Requirements and Solution Design:

  • Lead highly complex technical decision making efforts
  • Analyze system requirements and determine system functional specifications. Defines and documents user requirements. Participate in meetings with stakeholders from physician groups, administrators, finance, call center billing office, information systems, clinic operations and reporting. Document main points, issues and key decisions
  • Understand and translate the business functionality into Epic system configuration and workflow validations.
  • Gather requirements, provide fit gap analysis and create effective technical solutions for the business needs.
  • Provide analysis of government incentive, regulatory and grant programs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and monitor professional billing KPI’s to measure financial impacts and maximize gains.


  • Design, validate and confirm new or changed functionality with the Epic and EHR systems (Cadence, Prelude, and Referrals) environment that meets enterprise specifications.
  • Performs analysis, design, development and maintenance of the Epic Cadence, Prelude, and Referrals applications and other clinical information systems.
  • Develop and modify system configurations that meet design requirements.
  • Provide highly complex qualitative and quantitative analysis on data and information collected as part of Epic and EHR systems application requirement gathering.
  • Develop and modify system configurations that meet design requirements.
  • Conduct build-related peer reviews; resolve issues

Support and Maintenance:

  • Provide support for customized implementation and installation of the software and related integration elements.
  • Collaborate with vendors, staff and analysts to resolve outstanding issue relating to design and workflow challenges. Configures vendor applications and products
  • Proactively identify impact of changes upon other applications and downstream systems.
  • Update Change Control schedule with upcoming production releases.
  • Monitor performance of recently migrated components.
  • Resolve the most complex technical applications issues.
  • Provides “on-call” system application support at scheduled times.
  • Reports on system setup, errors, and activity of clients
  • Audits data entered by clinicians
  • Troubleshoots and tracks issues and problems.
  • Provides command center and or on-site user support during implementations.

Quality Assurance:

  • Leads efforts with business users and application team to design, build and execute a comprehensive integration and user acceptance test plan and scripts for unit testing and maintain log of test results.
  • Creates and ensures test scenarios and perform testing as needed.
  • Design test approach for unit testing stage for releases & enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Application Analysts from other teams to build test plans for integration testing.
  • Prepare cycle test environment including data, processes and configuration setup tests as necessary.
  • Conduct all phases of testing: unit, assembly, integrated, rev cycle and user acceptance tests.
  • Ensures test scenarios are adequately documented and perform testing as necessary
  • Work with project and infrastructure team to manage and maintain test environments as needed.
  • Prioritize system build efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training, and four (4) years of IT or clinical systems related work experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with no specific required field and five (5) years of IT or clinical systems related work experience, OR a Master’s degree and three (3) years of IT related work experience, OR a combination of (8) eight years of IT or clinical systems related work experience.
  • At least three (3) years of work experience must involve design, development, or implementation of clinical systems.
  • Appropriate college coursework, technical training, or industry certifications may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Preparation for a relevant IT certification, validated through certification requirements and documentation of completion, is considered to be related training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years Epic Resolute Professional Billing (PB) build and support experience in Ambulatory setting.
  • Two to three years of experience implementing, designing, and / or managing a variety of Electronic Health Record and clinical systems using multiple software programs and network applications.
  • Experience working in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with healthcare information systems or system implementation teams for complex projects and/or application development.
  • Experience in full implementation software development cycle.
  • Experience managing large projects with defined duration and scope.
