Job Description

Location: Oakland, CA

Duration: 2 Years

  • Provide application support for the My HR Human Resources System.
  • Identifies and creates solutions by reviewing and analyzing existing systems and processes.
  • Define functional business requirements and translate them into requirements for updates to the system.
  • Conducts gap analyses to document discrepancies between business requirements and system capabilities.
  • May develop project or tasks plans and ensure plan adherence.
  • As system development progresses, may have input into reporting requirements/report development, user interfaces, and coordinates, conducts or participates in UAT and the final evaluation of the system solution.
  • Serves as the liaison between the line business (client) and the IT organization.

Work Experience:

  • 5 to 8 years related professional experience.

Functional Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must have a strong working experience with PeopleSoft Human Resources Administration v9.1 or higher.
  • Experience with any or all of the following PeopleSoft HRMS 9.1 Modules: HR, Self-Service, Payroll North America, Benefits and Performance Management.
  • Complete understanding and application of concepts, techniques and standards in general HR and business analysis, as well as IT principles and practices.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with PS Query tool.
  • Basic knowledge of SQRs and HCM table structure.

Customer & Industry Knowledge:   

  • Broad-based knowledge of information technology and HRIS applications.
  • Understand and has awareness of SOX controls and sensitivity of HCM data.

Education & Training:    

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Job Complexity:

  • Application Support:  Provides 2nd and 3rd tier application support for the My HR Human Resources application system.  Reviews and monitors incidents for application support Human Resources related issues.
  • Provides problem resolution for production issues.
  • Provides application support during deployment of monthly maintenance and major releases.
  • Monitors production batch and ad hoc jobs as required ensuring proper functioning and completion of business operations.
  • Researches and resolves technical and functional issues according to defined prioritization/severity Service Level Agreements.
  • Works with client and gains commitment to changes required.  Process Mass Upload requests as needed for Regional Business Partners.
  • Requirements Definition and Analysis:  Collects and researches specific requirements for reported issues or requests, identifies requirements, gathers workflow data and basic system and reporting specifications.
  • Develops, implements, and supports common system solutions and processes.
  • Designs, develops, and test solution to address problems.
  • Project Planning and Execution:  Participates in project and major release efforts, to include participation in project meetings and user acceptance testing.
  • Account Management:  Manages relationships with assigned external and internal clients.  Acts as liaison between our Business Partners to plan or coordinate system activities to move solutions into the production environment.  Represents business for all system interfaces to outside vendors.
  • Business and Process Improvement:  Identifies opportunities for system or process improvement; makes associated recommendations and implements as appropriate.

Top Daily Responsibilities:   

  • Provide application support for the PeopleSoft HCM system with consulting services as a subject matter expert on PeopleSoft Human Resources modules.
  • Research and resolve system issues resulting from inquiries from Business partners.
  • Configure database to meet business needs and requests from partners.
  • Provide input into report requirements/development, final evaluation of the system solution, user interfaces, and coordination or execution of UAT.
  • Provide consulting services to designated regional representatives.

Skills a Top Candidate Should Have: 

  • Strong working experience with PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 or higher; Ability to review, design/define new configuration as needed.
  • Complete understanding and application of concepts, techniques and standards in general HR and business analysis, as well as IT principles and practices.
  • Strong business writing skills and proficient ability to present analysis, documentation of processes, documentation of methods, documentation of solutions, etc.
  • Intermediate to expert experience level with MS Excel, Word, Visio, and Project.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including trending and root cause analysis; Ability to problem-solving complex issues.

Required Skills:

  • Strong business writing skills as to be able to present analysis, documentation of processes, methods, solutions, etc.
  • Interpretive – translates business processes and requirements into system specifications.
  • Intermediate to expert experience level with MS Excel, Word, Visio, and Project.
  • Ability to create reports using PeopleSoft Query, Access, Excel or other 3rd party reporting tool.
